Collaborating with top universities across the world, GEC has built several research centers to promote university-industry collaboration and create research opportunities for students, scholars, and teachers, including Shanghai Jiao Tong University - GEC Academy Center of Innovative Design for Interdisciplinary Studies, Lanzhou University - GEC Academy Synthetic Biology Innovative Joint Research Center, and Greater Bay Area (Shenzhen) Life Science Collaborative Education Industrial Practice Base.

Drawing on GEC Academy’s strengths in project-based learning curriculum design, local student recruitment and practical education service experience, and the world-class faculty network affiliated, ASI Global, a not-for-profit organization, was launched in early 2021 to unite GEC's expertise with an industry-wide interest in the revolutionary approach to explore effective and innovative talent training models. ASI Global aims to build a community or a club where PhD students, young scholars, and professional researchers, no matter what field or which country they come from, can gather around and connect to each other.

Founded by GEC Academy and Shanghai Jiao Tong University in 2021, SJTU - GEC Center of Innovative Design for Interdisciplinary Studies is a university-level and non-profit joint research center specializing in interdisciplinary research of the highest quality. The Center is committed to building a decentralized and borderless academic platform to foster innovative, interdisciplinary endeavors and boost cross-disciplinary collaboration among young researchers, with a major advantage of this approach being the opportunity for open science.

With the ever-quickening changes in the fields of science and technology, research is moving towards more interdisciplinary endeavors. New academic disciplines are increasingly emerging, and they are then being combined to form new fields to provide better answers to emerging questions, indicating the great significance and necessity of in-depth interdisciplinarity for future research activity. And there’s a greater need for innovative, interdisciplinary, and practical skills. Despite the central role of interdisciplinarity in the current world, inadequate attention has been given to the specific challenge of doing interdisciplinary research in practice. Therefore, this Joint Research Center was established for increasing access to scientific outputs to promote long-term research as well as innovation in emerging frontier and interdisciplinary areas for common good, and very importantly, creating a favorable and cooperative education environment for the scientific community and society.

The Center strives to explore continuous innovative designs for interdisciplinary studies and to jointly build a decentralized and cooperative platform for emerging technology, in supporting the development of future interdisciplinary researchers.

With a mission to become a contributing role in building interdisciplinary capacity, the Center will endeavor to maximize the competitive advantages of universities and enterprises and work together with different stakeholders to promote interdisciplinary research and prepare researchers for an interdisciplinary future.

Jointly established by Lanzhou University and GEC Academy in 2021, Lanzhou University - GEC Academy Synthetic Biology Innovative Joint Research Center focuses on high-level applied research in collaboration with industrial partners to develop effective methods and technologies to promote reform in education to meet the demands of industrial developments with a focal point on training the next synthetic biologists.

Each year, GEC Academy offer training and educational programs, such as, the Online Research Programs to biology majors from Lanzhou University to enrich the learning experience of Lanzhou University students and bring them more career opportunities.

The center’s core mission is

To guide students to develop an understanding of the experimental skills and scientific process skills as well as a global perspective
To advance multidisciplinary research and address challenges in synthetic biology
To build a collaborative platform to provide better linkages between research and innovation
To promote the development and use of emerging technology in the synthetic biology field

ArnoBio - GEC Academy Synthetic Biology Popular Science Education Base for Greater Bay Area, established jointly by GEC Academy and ArnoBio, is a practical base aimed at promoting the development of life science education and industry. The base is committed to promoting exchange and cooperation between universities and enterprises, establishing a synthetic biology experimental education joint laboratory, and jointly promoting the transformation and industrialization of scientific research achievements.

ArnoBio is a technology-driven synthetic biology company. It utilizes synthetic biology technology and "cell factories" to develop and produce a series of high-value-added biological active substances that are green, efficient, low-cost, and suitable for large-scale production, with anti-aging, anti-tumor, and immunity enhancement as targets. These substances empower the development of new functional foods, special medical foods, medical aesthetics and skincare, and medical devices.

Together with ArnoBio, GEC aims to nurture high-level talents with international vision and innovation ability and contribute to regional economic development and social progress. At the same time, the base will also carry out international synthetic biology popular science education activities for teenagers. In the future, the base will continue to strengthen cooperation with universities, research institutions, and enterprises, promote in-depth integration of industry, academia, and research, carry out joint research on interdisciplinary topics, and jointly explore cutting-edge technologies and applications in the field of life sciences, making more contributions to the development of life sciences and social progress.
